Job Description
Under the direction of the Fitness Director, and in harmony with the Christian nature, purposes, established policies and goals of the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee, the Personal Trainer will be responsible for Fitness testing, and the design and implementation of Fitness Programs on a one-to-one basis to healthy individuals.

Personal trainers are paid a base rate of $12/hr and a training bonus while working with clients. With the bonus, trainers can make $20-$32/hr when working with clients.Duties :
Evaluate current fitness levels of clients. Interpret results of fitness assessment to help clients establish personalized goals. Design and implement fitness programs specific to individual skill levels, adjusting program as needed. Observe and "spot" clients during individual workout to promote safe and effective exercise techniques. Provide basic diet and nutritional counseling. Scheduled and confirm appointments with clients. Maintain records of workouts, to be used later in evaluating progress. Contact client after training to follow up on progress. Stay current with the field of personal training and fitness trends for professional growth through study and conference attendance. Promote and market the personal training program. Uphold and exemplify the principles of the YMCA Member Service Program. Perform all other duties may, as from time to time, be assigned by the supervisor. Employees are held responsible for the duties of the job. Responsible for strict adherence to all branch/department policies and procedures related to safety and conduct rules and other regulations. Be committed to the YMCA of Metropolitan Milwaukee's Child Abuse/Neglect prevention efforts as a mandated reporter The Personal Trainer must be certified as a Personal Trainer by a recognized organization (i.e. American Council on Exercise and the National Strength and Conditioning Association) Current CPR Certification 1 to 2 years of Fitness related experience preferred Professional level of knowledge necessary for developing safe and effective exercise programs for clients Wide variety of skills in physical education and knowledge in the areas of nutrition, anatomy and kinesiology, exercise physiology, health screening, exercise prescription and understanding of program design and be able to communicate the specific design to his/her clients Being able to see clients and good motivational techniques is essential. This position requires the candidate to stand, stoop, kneel, and life heavy weights.
