Full Job Description Overview:
NaphCare is hiring an experienced Consulting Pharmacist to join our pharmacy team at the Alabama Department of Corrections Regional Office located in Montgomery, AL. As a Correctional Pharmacist , you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to manage the medication needs of the individuals in residence. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex mental health and medical needs.
Responsibilities:
The Consulting Pharmacist ensures the safe and effective use of medications while working as part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team and collaborating with physicians to develop and implement treatment plans. Responsibilities may include but not be limited to: Preparing and dispensing medications according to prescriptions and established protocols Ensuring proper handling, storage, and record-keeping of medications, including controlled substances Maintaining accurate medication inventory and ordering supplies Reviewing medication orders for accuracy, potential drug interactions, and contraindications Performs quality assurance check on new or refill orders to ensure accuracy Performs quality assurance check on prepackaged medications to ensure quality and correctness Completes clinical review of all drug orders and patient charts per pharmacy policies and standards Communicates with providers to ensure clarity, accuracy and documentation of new or questionable orders Completes work activities to meet or exceed customer expectations in a timely manner. Ensure that all pharmaceutical services provided within the facility conform to state licensure, accreditation, regulatory agency requirements, company policies and procedures

Pharmacist:
Be a graduate of an accredited school of Pharmacy Have a minimum of a Bachelor's of Science in Pharmacy, or a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm D) Must be licensed in the Alabama Must be licensed, or willing to become licensed, in other states as required by client contracts Must have working knowledge of concepts of pharmacy computer systems Knowledge of relevant regulations and guidelines Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements Must pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening
Physical Capabilities:
Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
