Job Description
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A rewarding opportunity is available for a skilled Pharmacist to provide expert pharmaceutical care at a 20-bed suburban medical center in Tucson, AZ. This role emphasizes safe, accurate, and efficient medication distribution for patients across all age groups, hospital staff, and designated areas. You will ensure compliance with all applicable state/federal regulations, DEA standards, The Joint Commission (TJC) protocols, and institutional policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with physicians on optimal drug selection and dosing strategies. Educate nursing staff, patients, and physicians about medication use and safety. Lead medication safety initiatives to minimize adverse drug reactions. Manage patient medication profiles and review for potential issues. Prepare intravenous admixtures, nutritional supplements, and manage narcotic accountability. Adhere to all hospital and regulatory standards for pharmaceutical practice.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 3 years of hospital pharmacy experience within a high-acuity acute care setting. Experience working with NICU patients and advanced cardiac interventions, including Impella and ECMO cases. Thorough knowledge of hospital pharmacy operations and medication safety. Strong communication skills to effectively educate and collaborate with clinical teams.
Schedule:
Day shifts, Monday through Friday. Immediate availability preferred. This contract position offers the chance to apply your acute care pharmacy expertise in a dynamic environment for approximately 13 weeks. Flexibility with scheduling, including the option for Tuesday/Thursday shifts, is considered.
