Category Pharmacy - Clinical Pharmacist Job Type Contract A healthcare facility in the Los Angeles area is seeking a capable Clinical Pharmacist to provide vital support during a period of short staffing. This contract role requires flexibility and strong clinical skills to ensure seamless pharmacy operations in a dynamic environment.
Location:
Los Angeles, CA (may include floating to nearby sister hospitals within 10-15 miles)
Schedule/Hours:
Variable day and afternoon shifts Weekly hours fluctuate from approximately 16 to 40 hours Flexibility in availability is essential
Key Responsibilities:
Verify medication orders accurately and efficiently Supervise and provide oversight to pharmacy technicians Collaborate with nursing staff and physicians to optimize patient care Manage pharmacokinetic dosing and monitoring Utilize order entry systems (Allscripts/Paragon) for documentation and communication Work with Pyxis automated dispensing cabinets to ensure medication availability and safety
Qualifications:
Active pharmacist license valid in the state of California Proven experience in a hospital or clinical pharmacy setting Strong knowledge of pharmacokinetics and patient-specific medication management Familiarity with Allscripts/Paragon order entry systems and Pyxis automation preferred Ability to adapt to varying schedules and float between nearby hospital sites as needed Excellent communication and teamwork skills This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a well-established healthcare facility with 117 licensed beds and an average daily census of 44. The initial assignment is expected to last around eight weeks, with potential for ongoing month-to-month extension.
