Job Description
About Us:
The Inpatient Pharmacy Department at Valley Children's utilizes evidence-based therapeutic guidelines to provide exceptional pharmaceutical care to our patients. Our highly trained pharmacists and pharmacy technicians work side-by-side with providers and other interprofessional teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes, while utilizing state-of-the-art technology to maximize patient safety. Inpatient Pharmacy provides clinical interdisciplinary pharmacy services in all inpatient areas including Rehab, PICU, NICU, Acute Care, and Oncology. We have numerous pharmacy advance practice protocols including antibiotic monitoring, anticoagulation, IV to oral conversion, and renal dosing. Other clinically supported services include the Emergency Department, Palliative Care, Investigational Drug oversight, and parenteral nutrition (including production). Our team members also support the following specialty clinics: Oncology, Hematology, Rheumatology, Pulmonology/CF, Endocrinology, Neurology, Cardiology and our complex primary care center. Many pharmacists hold collaborative practice agreements to optimize medication therapy management and collaborate to enhance patient care.Job Summary:
This position is accountable for the processing of safe and effective drug therapy, under the direct supervision of a Registered Pharmacist, for patients at Valley Children's Healthcare. Pharmacy Interns are trained to perform pharmacy technician and pharmacist duties in the provision of pharmaceutical care. Pharmacy interns review and dispense medication orders, serve as a pharmacology consultant to healthcare team members and serve as an advocate for pediatric patients. Emphasis of the internship is to obtain education and training to aid in completing experience requirements for licensure as a Registered Pharmacist. Projects and assignments will vary and will require the pharmacy intern to demonstrate collaboration, communication, accountability and time management skills.Qualifications:
Education Program Must be currently enrolled in a school of pharmacy recognized by the Board of Pharmacy, a graduate of a school of pharmacy recognized by the Board, or a foreign graduate who has met educational requirements described in Business and Professions Code Section 4085, or an out of state licentiate who is awaiting the administration of the next California licensure exam. Compensation Range:
$22.70- $31.
