Job Description
UC Davis Medical Center Sacramento, CA Senior Clinical Pharmacist Salary or Pay Range:
$7,792.27- $8,776 Bi-weekly The Senior Oncology Specialty Pharmacist is an advanced practitioner in oncology area of pharmacy practice, providing drug therapy and pharmacological consultation on the most complex patients and overseeing the competency level of other pharmacy staff in their designated specialty.

- California Pharmacist License eligible and possess a valid license at the time of hire Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an Accredited Council for Pharmacy Education certified school of pharmacy, or equivalent training
- Completion of Postgraduate Year One (PGY1) training at an American Society of Health System Pharmacists (ASHP) Accredited program, or 3 years of relevant work experience
- Completion of PGY2 Oncology Residency, or equivalent experience (i.e., minimum of 3 years in 50% oncology clinical pharmacist position).
- Experience in working with and directing health care professionals.
- Experience in working with, directing and evaluating pharmacy residents and students.
- Ability to communicate well and make independent decisions to resolve minor problems as they arise.
- Ability to lead the work assigned to technicians and establish priorities of workflow.
- Complete working knowledge of, and skill to apply, practices, principles and techniques of patient care related to area of expertise.
- Written and oral communication skills to clearly and concisely provide information, explanations and instructions to, and to elicit information from others with varying levels of ability to understand, including individuals who are ill or distressed, or who may not speak English.
- Interpersonal skills to establish and maintain a friendly, welcoming environment for clinic/department customers, to demonstrate an interested, understanding, compassionate manner, to maintain a courteous and calm demeanor, and to use a proactive approach to negotiate with and persuade others to take required action.
- Ability to maintain composure, efficiency and a positive, customer-service oriented manner during periods of peak workload, with frequent interruptions, under tight deadlines, and when interacting with challenging customers who may be ill, angry, or emotionally distressed.
- Problem-solving skills to independently recognize and define a problem, to identify the resources available to help solve the problem, to create and implement viable solutions, and to follow through to ensure the problem is resolved to the satisfaction of all parties.
- Decision-making skills to independently exercise delegated authority to take action, and to recognize when it is appropriate to seek assistance from others when limits of delegated authority have been reached.
- Ability to exercise discretion to ensure that patient confidentiality is maintained, and a professional, respectful clinic/department environment exists at all times.
- Comprehensive knowledge of hospital practice, chemotherapy and hazardous drugs compounding and control procedures.
- Ability to review and assess appropriateness/safety of physician orders for complex chemotherapy regimens.
- Ability to accurately perform pharmacy calculations.
- Working knowledge of regulations and safety requirements for safe handling, preparation and administration of hazardous drugs. Preferred Qualifications
- Board Certification in Oncology (BCOP) or other relevant specialty (e.g., Pediatrics, BCPP).
