About Us We are a growing independent retail pharmacy located inside a busy professional medical building in Santa Clarita / Valencia, California. Our pharmacy is dedicated to providing concierge-level patient care, personalized service, free delivery, and strong collaboration with local physicians and healthcare providers. Unlike large corporate chain pharmacies, we focus on quality patient care, relationship-building, and creating a positive work environment for both patients and staff. We are seeking a motivated, compassionate, and experienced Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) who is passionate about leadership, patient care, and helping grow an expanding pharmacy operation. This is an exciting opportunity for a pharmacist who wants to practice meaningful pharmacy care in a professional and supportive independent pharmacy setting while making a direct impact on patient health outcomes and pharmacy growth. Position Summary The Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) will oversee all daily pharmacy operations while ensuring compliance with California Board of Pharmacy regulations, DEA requirements, HIPAA standards, and all applicable federal and state pharmacy laws. The ideal candidate is a strong leader with excellent clinical knowledge, operational efficiency, patient counseling skills, and the ability to manage workflow effectively in a fast-paced retail environment. Key Responsibilities Serve as the designated Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) for the pharmacy. Lead, supervise, mentor, and support pharmacy staff, including pharmacists, technicians, clerks, and delivery personnel. Ensure accurate dispensing of prescriptions and provide exceptional patient counseling regarding medication therapy, safety, and adherence. Maintain full compliance with California Board of Pharmacy regulations, DEA requirements, HIPAA standards, and all pharmacy operational policies. Oversee inventory management, purchasing, controlled substance management, and record-keeping. Process and troubleshoot third-party insurance claims and billing issues efficiently. Administer immunizations and provide clinical pharmacy services. Utilize pharmacy management software to maintain prescription workflow and patient records (Digital Rx experience is a plus). Collaborate closely with physicians, medical offices, and healthcare teams within the medical building to optimize patient care outcomes. Maintain efficient workflow management in a busy retail pharmacy setting. Assist in implementing patient-centered programs including medication therapy management, adherence support, and concierge pharmacy services. Support pharmacy growth initiatives, patient retention, and community outreach efforts. Ensure proper handling and storage of medications and maintain a clean, organized, and compliant pharmacy environment. Qualifications Active California Pharmacist License in good standing. Immunization certification required. Minimum 2-3 years of retail pharmacy experience preferred, with prior leadership or PIC experience strongly preferred. Strong understanding of California and federal pharmacy laws and regulations. Excellent communication, organizational, and multitasking abilities. Strong patient counseling and customer service skills. Experience with pharmacy software systems, prescription processing, and insurance billing. Self-motivated, dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Ability to lead a team while maintaining a positive and professional workplace culture.
