You will achieve this either by executing a physician's order or by addressing the patient's problems and needs. The pharmacist must be fully qualified to interpret symptoms so that the patient can either be given immediate treatment for a trifling condition or to be referred to the suitable doctor. The goal is to ensure effective medication use and become the people's trusted ally against health issues. That way you can deliver maximum value to both the pharmacy and society. Responsibilities Reviews, compounds, prepares and/or oversees the compounding, preparation and dispensing of pharmaceuticals to patients or medical practitioners; makes decisions regarding generic substitution of prescribed pharmaceuticals. Consults with patients and/or medical practitioners on drug indications/contraindications, dosage, drug interactions, and side effects; provides other drug and pharmaceutical information as appropriate. Oversee the acquisition and disbursement of drugs and medications Provides education, guidance and training to students, pharmacy interns, and or trainees during course of work and monitors performance. Establishes and maintains methods and manner of storage and recordkeeping systems to provide for safekeeping of pharmaceuticals. May take patient's histories as required; makes initial clinical assessments and refers patients to appropriate clinicians. Performs routine quality control testing of equipment, environment and record keeping as required by federal, state and local regulations. Follows established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, continuous quality improvement objectives, and safety, environmental, and/or infection control standards. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Review and execute physician's prescriptions checking their appropriateness and legality Organize the pharmacy in an efficient manner to make the identification of products easier and faster Maintain full control over delivering, stocking and labeling medicine and other products and monitor their condition to prevent expiring or deterioration Listen carefully to customers to interpret their needs and issues and offer information and advice Prepare medicine when appropriate using correct dosages and material for each individual patient Comply with all applicable legal rules, regulations and procedures Requirements and skills Proven experience as a pharmacist Thorough understanding of dosage administration and measurement, chemical compounds, medical brands etc. Good organizational skills Excellent communication skills with a customer-oriented approach Valid license to practice the profession Conditions of Employment May require discipline-specific licensure and/or professional certification, as specified by the department in the preferences. Must pass a pre-employment criminal background check. May be subject to credentialing process; must maintain credentialed status, if applicable. Must maintain certification status.
