Job Description

Category Pharmacy - Staff Pharmacist Job Type Contract A healthcare facility in New Castle, CO, is seeking a skilled Staff Pharmacist for a contract position starting ASAP through mid-August 2026. This role provides an excellent opportunity for pharmacists with strong Epic EMR experience, and Meditech training is a welcomed asset. The assignment supports a facility transition from Meditech to Epic, requiring adaptability and expertise in both systems.
Schedule:
Rotating day and evening shifts totaling 40 hours per week Start times at 6:30 AM or 8:00 AM, Monday through Friday Rotating weekends working 7:00 AM to 12:00
PM Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and dispense medication orders in accordance with physician requests and established protocols Maintain medication stock and ensure safe, cost-effective therapies Interpret medication orders and maintain computerized patient medication profiles accurately Compound and dispense pharmaceuticals including IV admixtures, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition as required Comply with federal, state, and local regulations including controlled substance handling Monitor drug therapy for contraindications and interactions; perform pharmacokinetic dosing Review culture and susceptibility data to promote antibiotic appropriateness Detect and report adverse drug reactions promptly Promote formulary adherence through therapeutic substitutions and cost-effective drug selections Provide clinical consultation to medical staff and drug information to patients and families Document clinical activities and participate in quality improvement initiatives Contribute to staff education and be an active member of the
Code Response Team Qualifications:
Active Colorado Pharmacist License in good standing Graduation from an ACPE-accredited School of Pharmacy with a BS Pharmacy degree BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association Flu vaccine required between October 1 and April 1, with no exemptions accepted Must have Epic EMR experience; Meditech experience is a plus This contract offers a challenging role with a diverse workload and the chance to support an important EMR transition. Candidates possessing the required licensure and skills are encouraged to apply immediately. Compensation for this position ranges from $54.00 to $61.00.
