Pharmacist-In-Charge Pharmacy Hours 9-5 Monday-Friday Position is 30-40 hours/week

Job Purpose :
To perform all duties as a member of the health care team and to work in all aspects of the operation of the pharmacy
Primary Duties:
1. Oversees the pharmacy technicians, clerks and delivery drivers including responsibilities for all personnel related activities. 2. Helps ensure all pharmacy employees are properly trained. 3. Helps to guide and enhance development of pharmacists, technicians and delivery drivers. 4. Redirects performance following proper steps of disciplinary action through chain of command if performance does not meet standards. 5. Helps to direct organization and pharmacy workflow. 6. Maximizes profitability by means of effective management of inventory and personnel. 7. Oversees and ensures an atmosphere of courtesy and the highest level of customer service at all times. 8. Coordinates dialogue with physicians, nurses, support staff and professional contacts. Assists the Medical staff with maintaining optimum formulary, prescribing practices. 9. Maintains all controllable expenses at acceptable levels. 10. Maintains proper inventory levels and oversees ordering. 11. Ensure a safe, secure and proper working environment for all employees that are clean, neat and well organized. 12. Protects Preferred Care Pharmacy, property, assets and maintains financial records. 13. Assure compliance with all state and federal pharmacy regulations. 14. Engages in pharmacy practice as detailed in pharmacist in charge job description. 15. Maintains the pharmacy computer system by ensuring the updating of price information, clinical screening, new product registration, software enhancements and program error corrections. 16. Reconciles bank deposits and credit card charges. 17. Responsible for pharmaceutical company relations. 18. Maintains strictest confidentiality. 19. Other duties, as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Graduate of an accredited school or college of pharmacy recognized by the appropriate state board of pharmacy (BS or Pharm D)
- Current License/Certificate to practice in the state in which the pharmacy is located
- At least 1 year of professional pharmacy experience preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to function as a member of the pharmacy team
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of pharmacology principles, practices and techniques to direct the operation of the pharmacy. Knowledge of pharmaceuticals to recognize and advise physicians of potential problems. Knowledge of pharmaceuticals to advise patients on measurement and timing of dosages, use of multiple medications and potential side effects. Knowledge of the principles and practices of employee development to train, delegate and mentor staff. Knowledge of medical safety standards to compound and work with pharmaceutical substances. Knowledge of the principles of finance and budgeting to manage a budget. Skill in anticipating and reacting calmly to emergency situations. Skill in identifying problems, researching and identifying effective resolution. Skill in preparing records, writing reports and responding to correspondence. Skill in developing and maintaining quality assurance. Skill in exercising a high degree of initiative, judgment, discretion and decision-making. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff and the public. Ability to establish quality control standards. Ability to plan, prioritize, organize and direct the work of others. Ability to communicate clearly.
Physical Requirements and Demands:
Frequent standing or walking for extended periods of time. Frequently lifts and carries items weighing up to 50 pounds. Required eye-hand coordination, manual dexterity and the ability to read and note appropriate measurements. Requires typing ability of 35 wpm. Requires ability to work in stressful situations or work irregular hours. Requires exposure to toxic substances.
Work Environment:
This position is in a health care setting therefore frequent exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions common to a pharmacy/health clinic environment is possible.
Working Hours:
Working hours are established to meet the needs of our pharmacy. These hours are subject to change to meet the need of our business. Individual employee work hours will be scheduled by your supervisor. It is expected that an employee of each functional area of the practice will remain on the job while patients are being attended. Time worked will be documented daily by each employee using a time record system determined by the supervisor. These records will serve as the "permanent record" of the employee's time worked and will be used for pay purposes as well as for monitoring earned paid time off (as described in the Personal Time Off section of this manual).
