Job Description
The Pharmacist interprets physician prescriptions and medication orders. Acts as a drug information resource to patients, medical staff, nursing staff and ancillary department personnel. Compounds and dispenses prescribed medications and other pharmaceuticals for patient care by performing the related duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Assure that prescriptions issued by physicians and other authorized prescribers are accurate Adhere to all HIPAA regulations and protects patient privacy. Responsible for the accurate dispensing and timely distribution of drugs and medicines for inpatients or outpatients Monitor all posting onto patient profiles to ensure optimal patient care including accuracy, drug allergies, drug interactions, duplicate therapy, and incompatibility Supervise pharmacy technicians and other pharmacy staff. Answer any questions regarding medications on drug interactions, side effects, storage, or dosages by other staff, patients, or families. Complete all educational requirements annually and keep up to date on changes in the industry Follow Hospital and OSHA safety rules and procedures. Demonstrates clear ownership of workplace and patient safety. Reports mistakes, near misses, adverse events and quality and safety concerns. Participates in the development and implementation of safety and quality improvement activities. Performs other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements Education:
Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy with a minimum of a Bachelor's degreeLicensure/Certification:
Licensed as a Pharmacist by the State of Indiana required.Experience:
Minimum of two years of pharmacy experience in a hospital setting. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills required. Ability to pay extremely close attention to detail.Physical Requirements:
Frequent standing and walking; occasional sitting. Ability to frequently lift 25 lbs. Frequent reaching, stooping, and bending. Good visual acuity.Location:
