Job Description

Category Pharmacy - Pharmacist Job Type Contract An immediate opening is available for a Pharmacist/Pharmacy Manager at a 48-bed rehabilitation hospital in the Olathe, KS area. This position plays a key leadership role, serving as the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) responsible for pharmacy oversight, operations, and staffing. The pharmacy supports an average daily census of 45 patients and maintains hours from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. This contract opportunity requires a hands-on pharmacist who will provide direct patient care and supervise pharmacy technicians. The pharmacy team currently consists of one full-time pharmacist and two pharmacy technicians working both full-time and PRN schedules. There is also a robust pool of six PRN pharmacists who share weekend, after-hours, and on-call responsibilities, ensuring continuous pharmacy coverage. Key responsibilities include managing pharmacy services as the PIC, maintaining compliance with regulations, staffing the pharmacy with 40 hours per week onsite, providing IV compounding (non-chemotherapy), and utilizing pharmacy systems such as Wellsky and the Pyxis automation system. You will oversee one technician per shift and support quality medication management in a rehab hospital setting.
Qualifications and Desired Experience:
Active pharmacist license in the respective state with PIC privileges Experience in pharmacy management and leadership roles Proficiency with IV compounding (excluding chemotherapy) Familiarity with hospital pharmacy information systems, preferably Wellsky Comfortable with automation systems such as Pyxis Ability to provide weekend, after-hours, and on-call coverage in coordination with PRN staff
Schedule/Hours:
