Full Job Description Job Summary:
The Pharmacist will dispense drugs prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners and provide information to patients about medications and their use. Employee may advise physicians and other health practitioners on the selection, dosage, interactions, and side effects of medication.Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Teaches pharmacy interns in preparation for their graduation or licensure.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide information and advice regarding drug interactions, side effects, dosage, and proper medication storage. Compound and dispense medications as prescribed by doctors and dentists, by calculating, weighing, measuring, and mixing ingredients, or oversee these activities. Maintain records, such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, control records for radioactive nuclei, and registries of poisons, narcotics, and controlled drugs. Review prescriptions to assure accuracy, to ascertain the needed ingredients, and to evaluate their suitability. Advise customers on the selection of medication brands, medical equipment, and health-care supplies. Analyze prescribing trends to monitor patient compliance and to prevent excessive usage or harmful interactions. Maintains a current & valid certification for Pharmacist (PST) administered by The LA Board of Pharmacy.- Performs all other related duties as assigned.

- Critical thinking ability to examine information rationally, understand the logical and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Adheres to all Carmichael's policies and procedures.
Education and Experience:
- Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree or Registered Pharmacist (RPH).
- State licensing, as defined under the Louisiana Pharmacy Act.
