Job Description

This position is Monday-Thursday 1:30pm to 10:00pm.
DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
Under the general supervision of the Pharmacy Manager ,and in compliance with all applicable departmental policies, standards and regulatory requirements, prepare medications and other pharmaceuticals for dispensing to patients of the Medical Center, it's clinics and all employees, their family members and the surrounding community. Researches and communicates drug information to physicians, nurses and health care personel, patients and families.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
(Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)
Experience:
Three years of experience as a licensed pharmacist. Experience in community, outpatient or specialty pharmacy preferred. Experience with pharmacy workflow required. Experience with pharmacy automation preferred. Experience with insurance adjudication, prior authorizations and patient assistance programs preferred Experience with prescription and OTC counseling. Experience in a 340b environment preferred.
Education and Training:
B.S. in pharmacy or PharmD from an ACPE accredited college of pharmacy.
License, Certification & Registration:
MAPHAR
  • Licensed MA Pharmacist IMMUN
  • Immunization Certification CPR
  • CPR/BLS certification
Other Requirements:
Excellent patient counseling, communication and interpersonal skills particularly on the telephone. Strong knowledge of pharmacotherapy, drug interactions, dosing and contraindications. Strong clinical judgement and attention to detail. Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Collaborative team player with technicians, clinicans and leadership. Comfortable using technology (PMS, automation, electronic prescribing, clinical systems). Ability to accurately verify prescriptions and ensure compliance with federal & state regulations.
