This pivotal role involves overseeing daily pharmacy functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and delivering exceptional patient care. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in clinical pharmacy, LTC (Long-Term Care) pharmacy, and hospital settings, demonstrating leadership in medication management, patient assessment, and team coordination. As the Pharmacist in Charge, you will champion safety, accuracy, and efficiency while fostering a collaborative environment that prioritizes patient well-being and professional excellence. Duties Supervise all pharmacy activities, ensuring adherence to legal and regulatory requirements, including HIPAA compliance and hospital policies Oversee medication dispensing processes, including compounding medications and preparing IV infusions using aseptic techniques Conduct patient assessments to optimize medication therapy plans across diverse populations such as pediatrics and acute care patients Manage inventory levels efficiently, including medication storage, stock rotation, and procurement of pharmacy supplies Utilize pharmacy software, EMR (Electronic Medical Records), and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems to document patient interactions, medication administration, and medical management activities Provide clinical consultations on pain management, immunizations, medical terminology, physiology knowledge, and anatomy to healthcare teams Lead efforts in patient service initiatives by performing medication reviews, patient education, and assessments for safe medication administration Support pharmacy technicians by providing guidance on compounding medications, inventory management, and maintaining aseptic techniques during sterile preparations Participate in hospital rounds when necessary to assist with medication administration procedures such as IV insertion and infusion therapies Requirements Valid pharmacist license with current registration in the applicable jurisdiction Proven experience in LTC pharmacy or hospital environments with a focus on acute care or critical care settings Strong clinical pharmacy background including pediatrics, pain management, immunizations, and medical management strategies Demonstrated leadership skills as a Pharmacy Residency or equivalent clinical experience preferred Proficiency with pharmacy software systems along with EMR/EHR platforms for documentation and patient record management Knowledge of sterile compounding techniques including aseptic procedures for IV medications Familiarity with inventory management practices within a hospital or large-scale pharmacy setting Ability to perform patient assessments accurately while applying physiology knowledge and medical terminology effectively Experience with IV infusion procedures and IV insertion techniques is highly desirable Excellent understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient privacy and data security Strong communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams across departments Join us as a Pharmacist in Charge to lead our pharmacy team toward delivering outstanding patient-centered care while advancing your professional journey in a dynamic healthcare environment!
