Day Shift Description:
The Pharmacist II will prepare and dispense parenteral, enteral, and oral medications, monitor patient drug therapies, and provide drug information. The Pharmacist II will also direct support personnel. What a pharmacist II will do: Reviews, prepares and dispenses medication orders per physician order or prescription according to established policies, procedures, and protocols. Ensures safe, appropriate, cost-effective medication therapies for patients according to established policies, procedures and protocols. Contributes to the quality and effective operation of the department. Provides clinical consultation and clarification to practitioners. Suggests appropriate, cost-effective therapeutic alternatives to physicians, as needed. Provides drug information and counseling to patients, families, and other healthcare professionals. Participate in the training, education, precepting, and evaluation of pharmacy students and/or residents as assigned. Provides work direction to pharmacy support personnel, verifies the daily activities of pharmacy technicians. What a pharmacist II will need: One year of experience in a hospital or retail pharmacy preferer Current registered pharmacist license and controlled substance license issued by the Michigan State Board of Pharmacy.
