Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit Counseling and Psychological Services ( CAPS) provides psychological services to all students enrolled at UNC Chapel Hill who have paid the student health fee. The psychological/counseling services provide individual, couples, and group therapy, same day triage appointments, crisis intervention, outreach services and medication evaluation and management. The team also provides risk assessment evaluation for the Dean of Students office. Campus Health and CAPS is a unique health care entity and position duties do not necessarily compare to an academic department or other service units of the University. We face many challenges associated with healthcare delivery that most job descriptions do not address, including Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations ( JCAHO) accreditation, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act ( HIPAA) compliance, CPT and ICD-9 coding, billing, electronic health record, and electronic insurance filing. Position Summary The Clinical Prescribing Pharmacist ( CPP) provides evaluation for medication and ongoing medication maintenance under the supervision of a psychiatrist. The pharmacist does not provide a diagnosis to the client but provides all other aspects of medication evaluation and maintenance. The CPP is a highly skilled practitioner who is able to work with a high level of independence to provide high quality health care to UNC-CH students and postdoctoral fellows. The CPP meets all legal, accreditation, and certification requirements, and complies with all applicable policies, procedures, codes, and standards of the health-system. The position reports to the director of Counseling and Psychological Services. Minimum Education and Experience Requirements Master's or Bachelor's and 0-2 years' experience; or will accept a combination of related education and experience in substitution'. Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
  • Selected candidate must have at least one of the following: a) Board of Pharmaceutical Specialty Certification, or have completed an ASHP Residency, and at least two (2) years of clinical experience, b) a Doctor of Pharmacy Degree with at least three (3) years of clinical experience and the completion of a certificate program, or c) a B.
S. degree with at least five (5) years of clinical experience and the completion of two certificate programs.
  • Demonstrate adequate technical skills in medication management, clinical judgment, and documentation in an outpatient setting for mental health clients. Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
  • Demonstrated clinical experience in the field of mental health.
  • Training and certification as a Nurse Practitioner, preferably with experience in care of college age patients.
  • Experience with the clinical principles and practices of general medicine and college health care and Women's health.
  • Experience with techniques of patient interviewing and medical history review, health appraisal tools using an electronic medical record, interpretation of laboratory test results, and therapeutic procedures related to area of general medicine and/or specialty.
  • Experience with patient care plans based on assessment and findings.
  • Experience with managing the physical and mental well-being of patients through on-going education and prevention.
  • Involvement in larger professional organizations such as regional and national professional groups.
