Job Description

Overview We are seeking a highly skilled and adaptable Pharmacist Per diem to join our healthcare team. This role offers flexibility to work across various hospital departments, including emergency, ICU, pediatrics, and trauma centers. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical pharmacy experience, strong patient care skills, and a comprehensive understanding of acute and critical care pharmacotherapy. This position is perfect for professionals looking to contribute their expertise in a dynamic hospital environment while maintaining a flexible schedule. Responsibilities Provide expert pharmaceutical care to patients across multiple units, including ICU, PICU, trauma centers, and emergency departments. Conduct thorough patient assessments to determine appropriate medication therapy and optimize patient outcomes. Prepare and dispense medications accurately, including IV infusions and aseptic techniques, ensuring compliance with safety standards. Manage complex medication regimens for patients with acute pain, critical illnesses, or requiring specialized therapies such as pain management or medication administration in pediatric or trauma settings. Collaborate with multidisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans. Monitor patient responses to medications, adjusting therapy as needed based on physiology knowledge and clinical judgment. Ensure adherence to hospital policies regarding medication safety, medical terminology accuracy, and proper documentation. Stay current with evolving clinical practices related to hospital medicine, critical care, and emergency room protocols. Experience Prior experience working within managed care environments is preferred. Demonstrated Level I or Level II trauma center experience is highly desirable. Proven background in hospital medicine, including ICU or emergency room settings. Experience with pediatrics (PICU) and acute pain management is advantageous. Completion of a pharmacy residency program or post-residency hospital pharmacy experience is required. Strong knowledge of physiology and anatomy relevant to pharmacotherapy in acute care settings. Hands-on experience with IV infusion preparation and aseptic techniques. Familiarity with medical terminology and medication administration protocols in hospital environments. Critical care experience involving patient assessment and pain management strategies is essential for success in this role.
