Essential Job Functions Performs duties of a staff pharmacist as required Establishes and maintains clinical knowledge or practice that supports the needs of the ministry Instructs and precepts pharmacy students as assigned Develops and performs basic patient assessments as appropriate for scope of practice (i.e. assess for bruising or bleeding in patients on warfarin therapy) Acts as liaison between nursing services, pharmacy services, and medical staff in developing, implementing, and maintaining clinical pharmacy programs Successfully completes required rotational and longitudinal rotations - under guidance of residency preceptors, chooses elective rotations to complete Helps recruit at ASHP Midyear Conference for upcoming class of new residents and other recruiting opportunities as requested by residency program preceptors Active participation on committees relating to areas of clinical practice expertise and/or interest area.. Completes residency project as approved by residency program preceptors - project results presented at the discretion of residency program preceptors. May perform other duties within the scope of practice as assigned by supervisor. Obeys and adheres to all the Hospital and Facilities policies, procedures, rules, and regulations; the Department of Pharmacy Policies and Procedure manual for residents; and the Ethical and Religious Directives for Mercy Health Care Services. A copy of the Hospital's policy and procedure is also available in the Department of Pharmacy for the Resident's review. - Long-distance or air travel as needed - not to exceed 10% travel. May be exposed to human blood and other potentially infectious materials. May be exposed to adverse weather conditions; cold, hot, dust, wind, etc. May have periods of constant interruptions Required to car travel to off-site locations, occasionally in adverse weather conditions. Prolonged periods of working alone.
