Job Description

Category Pharmacy - Staff Pharmacist Job Type Contract This opportunity is for a Staff Pharmacist role based in Reading, PA, on a contract assignment starting from May 4 to August 1. The schedule consists of five 8-hour day shifts each week, ideal for professionals seeking a structured daytime routine in a hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Review medication orders from physicians and physician extenders to ensure appropriateness in drug selection, dosage, frequency, and route of administration. Assess patient allergies, medical history, drug interactions, and lab results to identify any clinical conflicts prior to dispensing. Manage inventory control to maintain adequate medication supplies. Provide reliable drug information and support to healthcare team members. Supervise pharmacy students and technicians during medication preparation to maintain accuracy and patient safety. Collaborate with the healthcare team to assist in continuum of care and discharge planning.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Bachelor's degree from a College of Pharmacy accredited by the American Council on Pharmaceutical Education (ACPE) is required; PharmD degree is preferred. A minimum of one year experience in a hospital setting or completion of Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience (APPE) in a clinical environment is preferred. Must hold a valid Pennsylvania Pharmacist License. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is preferred.
