Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Pharmacist in Charge to lead our pharmacy team with enthusiasm and expertise. This pivotal role involves overseeing daily pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and delivering exceptional patient care. As the Pharmacist in Charge, you will serve as the primary clinical and administrative leader, fostering a collaborative environment that prioritizes patient safety, medication management, and team development. Your energetic leadership will drive continuous improvement and uphold the highest standards of pharmacy practice. Responsibilities Manage all aspects of pharmacy operations, including medication dispensing, inventory control, and staff supervision. Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations, state and federal pharmacy laws, and accreditation standards. Oversee patient medication therapy management, including assessments for complex cases such as LTC (Long-Term Care), critical care, pediatrics, and acute care settings. Lead clinical initiatives such as immunizations, medication administration protocols, pain management strategies, and IV infusion procedures. Supervise pharmacy technicians and support staff to maintain high-quality patient service and accurate medication dispensing. Utilize pharmacy software systems (EMR/EHR) for prescription processing, patient records management, and medication reconciliation. Conduct patient assessments to optimize therapeutic outcomes while maintaining a focus on safety through aseptic technique and physiology knowledge. Oversee compounding medications with precision using aseptic techniques to ensure safety and efficacy. Maintain accurate inventory levels of pharmaceuticals, including controlled substances, while managing procurement and storage procedures. Facilitate ongoing staff training on medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, medication administration techniques, and hospital protocols. Participate in medical management discussions to support interdisciplinary patient care teams in hospital or acute care environments. Qualifications Valid pharmacist license with current registration; prior pharmacy residency or clinical pharmacy experience preferred. Demonstrated expertise in LTC pharmacy, critical care environments, and hospital experience. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, medical terminology, and immunization protocols. Proven experience with pharmacy software systems (EMR/EHR), inventory management tools, and compounding medications. Hands-on experience with IV insertion techniques and aseptic procedures for IV infusions. Familiarity with HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality at all times. Excellent patient service skills with a focus on patient assessment and individualized care plans. Ability to lead a team effectively while managing multiple priorities in fast-paced settings such as hospitals or acute care units. Strong communication skills to collaborate with healthcare professionals on pain management strategies and medical management plans.
