Category Pharmacy-Pharmacist in Charge Job Type Contract A mail order pharmacy based in Alabama is seeking a dedicated Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) to oversee and ensure full regulatory compliance and operational excellence. This role is ideal for a licensed pharmacist with leadership experience who can manage quality assurance, staff oversight, and regulatory requirements efficiently in a flexible, part-time schedule.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensure adherence to all state and federal pharmacy laws and regulations governing mail order operations Maintain and update pharmacy policies, SOPs, and quality assurance protocols Oversee medication dispensing accuracy, patient safety, and daily workflows Fulfill Illinois PIC compliance requirements with thorough documentation and reporting Supervise pharmacy personnel involved in mail order fulfillment processes Manage controlled substance procedures, including DEA recordkeeping and reporting Prepare for audits, regulatory inspections, and implement corrective actions as needed Oversee proper medication storage, handling, packaging, and shipment Review and approve updates to SOPs, compliance logs, and regulatory documentation Serve as the primary contact for state boards, accreditation bodies, and auditorsQualifications and Desired Experience:
Active pharmacist licenses in both Illinois and Alabama (mandatory) Additional licenses in Tennessee or Georgia are a plus Prior experience as a PIC or in pharmacy leadership roles Strong knowledge of mail order pharmacy operations and regulatory compliance Ability to work independently while managing critical oversight responsibilities efficientlySchedule & Location:
Approximately 8 hours per week, with a flexible schedule as long as all PIC duties are completed Position located in Alabama with potential remote flexibility given mail order nature This contract role provides a unique opportunity to lead and influence pharmacy operations with a focus on compliance and quality.
