Job Description

Scope The Remote Oncology Pharmacist is responsible for reviewing and verifying medication orders, ensuring safe and appropriate therapy, and providing clinical support to patients and providers. This role focuses on prescription processing activities, including therapy evaluation, recommendations, and drug information support, without involvement in onsite dispensing operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Review and verify prescription orders for accuracy, appropriateness, and safety, including dose, indication, drug interactions, and contraindications. Evaluate patient-specific clinical information (e.g., diagnosis, lab values, medication history) to ensure optimal therapy selection. Make evidence-based recommendations to providers regarding therapy modifications, dosing adjustments, or alternative treatments when appropriate. Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, clinical guidelines, and best practices in oncology and specialty pharmacy. Coordinates with physician staff and service providers in planning and implementing patient care plans. Provide timely responses to provider inquiries related to medication therapy, dosing, side effects, and drug interactions. Respond to patient questions regarding medications, including administration, side effects, adherence, and general drug information. Identify and escalate potential medication safety concerns or adverse drug reactions. Document all clinical interventions, recommendations, and communications in the appropriate systems. Support prior authorization and medication access processes through clinical review when needed. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of oncology therapies, drug approvals, and treatment guidelines. Accreditation and Compliance Adhere to all applicable pharmacy laws, regulations, and organizational policies. Maintain accurate and complete documentation to support compliance and audit readiness. Participate in quality assurance and continuous improvement activities as required. Minimum Qualifications Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy from an accredited institution. Active, unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of Washington. Minimum of 3 years of dispensing pharmacist experience; oncology or specialty pharmacy experience strongly preferred. Strong clinical knowledge of oncology medications and treatment protocols. Excellent communication skills for remote patient and provider interactions. Work Environment Fully remote position. Requires prolonged computer use and frequent communication via phone and electronic systems. Reporting Responsibilities Reports to Pharmacy Manager, Clinical Director, or designated supervisor. No direct supervisory responsibilities. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Spokane, WA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $60.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
