Job Description

Volunteer Pharmacy is looking for a friendly, dependable pharmacist to join our team on a part-time or PRN basis. We are an independent community pharmacy with a strong focus on patient care, customer service, and high-quality pharmacy operations. The ideal candidate is approachable, professional, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced retail pharmacy setting. This position is a good fit for a pharmacist who enjoys interacting with patients, supporting technicians, solving problems, and helping maintain a positive workflow throughout the pharmacy.
Responsibilities include:
Verify and dispense prescriptions accurately and efficiently Provide patient counseling on prescription and over-the-counter medications Ensure compliance with all applicable federal and state pharmacy laws, HIPAA requirements, controlled substance regulations, and company policies Oversee pharmacy technicians and provide guidance on workflow, customer service, and prescription processing Help resolve third-party billing issues, prescription clarification needs, and other workflow challenges Maintain accurate records and follow pharmacy SOPs for receiving, filling, dispensing, documentation, and loss prevention Support a positive, professional, and patient-centered pharmacy environment Assist with immunizations, clinical services, or community outreach as needed, depending on experience and availability
Qualifications:
Active pharmacist license in Tennessee, in good standing Retail pharmacy experience preferred Strong communication and customer service skills Ability to work well with pharmacists, technicians, prescribers, and patients Comfortable managing pharmacy workflow and making sound professional decisions Dependable, organized, and able to adapt in a busy independent pharmacy environment
Schedule:
Approximately 10-20 hours per week, with flexibility depending on availability and pharmacy needs. PRN applicants are also welcome.
