Job Description

Pharmacist (Contract-to-Hire | Onsite) Location Fort Worth, TX (Onsite) Schedule Monday-Friday, 10:00 AM - 7:00 PM CST Occasional Saturdays (8-10 times per year), 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM (with a weekday off provided; schedule given one year in advance) Position Overview We are seeking a dedicated and patient-focused Pharmacist to join our team in an onsite, contract-to-hire role. This position is highly patient-facing and requires extensive phone-based counseling, making strong communication skills essential. The ideal candidate will have experience in patient counseling and prescription verification, along with a commitment to delivering exceptional patient care. Key Responsibilities Patient Care & Clinical Duties Counsel patients via phone regarding medications, treatment plans, and proper usage (6-8 hours daily) Conduct comprehensive clinical reviews of pharmacotherapy, including: Drug utilization review Drug interaction screening Side effect profiling Compliance monitoring Educate patients on new therapies according to clinical management models Provide subcutaneous injection teaching and coordinate additional nursing support when necessary Serve as a liaison between patients, caregivers, nurses, and prescribing clinicians Prescription & Operations Management Verify prescriptions for accuracy and clinical appropriateness (approximately 2 hours daily) Ensure proper processing and timely dispensing of prescriptions Supervise pharmacy technicians and oversee workflow efficiency Verify final prescription products for accuracy and quality assurance Assist in adjudicating pharmacy claims and ensuring proper billing practices Monitor compliance with federal, state, and Board of Pharmacy regulations Documentation & Coordination Document clinical reviews and patient interactions in records Coordinate customized patient care services and ensure proper fulfillment Handle intake for new referrals via phone Ensure proper discontinuation procedures and documentation for patient records Compliance & Quality Adhere strictly to company policies and regulatory requirements (Medicare/Medicaid) Complete REMS training and follow program SOPs Monitor hazardous material handling and aseptic techniques in the pharmacy Report adverse events and product quality issues as required Professional Responsibilities Maintain continuing education (CE) requirements Support development of pharmacy staff Participate in team meetings and ongoing learning initiatives Qualifications Required Active Pharmacist license (in good standing) Minimum 2 years of experience counseling patients and verifying prescriptions Strong experience in patient-facing roles, especially phone-based counseling Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to manage high call volume and multitask effectively Preferred Experience working in a fast-paced pharmacy environment Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient care Work Environment Fully onsite role in Fort Worth, TX Majority of the workday spent on the phone supporting patients Collaborative team environment with pharmacists and pharmacy technicians Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Dallas, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $60.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
