Category Pharmacy-Pharmacist in Charge Job Type Direct Hire Step into a leadership role as the Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) for an exciting new specialty pharmacy opening in Lufkin, TX. This direct hire opportunity offers a chance to manage the build-out and launch of a cutting-edge specialty pharmacy, focused on improving patient access and outcomes in collaboration with specialty care clinics.
Location:
Lufkin, TX (Relocation required; candidates from Houston, Tyler, or surrounding areas encouraged to apply)
Schedule:
Monday - Friday, hours to be determined
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the designated PIC responsible for licensure, regulatory compliance, and controlled substance oversight Oversee daily pharmacy operations ensuring safe, accurate dispensing and adherence to clinical protocols Lead onboarding of insurance contracts and manage regulatory and accreditation requirements with state and federal agencies Develop and enforce policies for prescription processing, drug storage, and medication security Supervise and train pharmacy staff, ensuring ongoing education and adherence to quality standards Collaborate with providers and clinic teams to optimize specialty medication usage, access, and patient outcomes Manage inventory including temperature-sensitive medications and recall procedures Drive strategic initiatives to support pharmacy growth and value-based care efforts Act as a clinical expert, supporting patient counseling and prior authorization reviews
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent advanced degree required Current, unrestricted pharmacist license in Texas, with eligibility to serve as PIC Prior PIC or Pharmacy Manager experience in an outpatient/retail specialty pharmacy setting (inpatient experience will not be considered) Proven skills in specialty medication management, prior authorizations, and patient access support Experience working with pharmacy software (e.g., QS1, PioneerRx) and familiarity with EMR or specialty pharmacy systems is a plus Strong organizational, communication, and leadership abilities with a collaborative mindset Ability and willingness to relocate to Lufkin, TX This role is ideal for a motivated pharmacist eager to lead a specialty pharmacy startup, apply their expertise in a direct hire capacity, and make a lasting impact on patient care.
