Palestine Regional Medical Center (PRMC) provides 150 beds across two facilities, the PRMC hospital and PRMC's West Campus, which includes a behavioral health unit. For over 60 years, the citizens of Anderson County, TX, and surrounding counties have depended on the PRMC healthcare facilities in Palestine. The medical center offers a full range of comprehensive care, including the latest in diagnostic, therapeutic and rehabilitative services, both on an inpatient and outpatient basis. Approximately 550 employees and volunteers work closely with the medical staff, which includes over 50 physicians, to provide a local option for quality healthcare. Palestine Regional Medical Center is located at: 2900 S Loop 256, Palestine, TX 75801 Job Summary The Pharmacist is responsible for preparing, dispensing, and monitoring medications to ensure the safe and effective use of pharmaceutical therapies for patients in an acute care hospital setting. This role includes verifying medication orders, providing drug information, compounding sterile products, and overseeing the work of pharmacy technicians to maintain compliance with regulatory standards. Essential Functions Review and verify medication orders for accuracy, dosage, and potential drug interactions. Prepare and dispense medications in accordance with established protocols and physician orders. Compound sterile products, chemotherapy, and parenteral nutrition solutions using aseptic techniques. Provide drug information and consultation to healthcare professionals regarding appropriate medication use. Monitor patient medication profiles for contraindications, allergies, and therapeutic duplications. Educate patients on medication therapy, potential side effects, and proper administration techniques. Assist in maintaining the pharmacy inventory, including controlled substances, and ensure proper storage and security. Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to provide input on medication management and therapeutic plans. Document all clinical activities and interventions in the patient medical record. Assist in the orientation and training of pharmacy technicians and pharmacy students. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Expectations Strong knowledge of pharmacotherapy, medication safety, and regulatory standards. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in using pharmacy information systems and medication dispensing software. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills for identifying and resolving medication-related issues. Demonstrates commitment to continuous learning and professional development. Education Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy from an accredited School of Pharmacy required. Licenses/Certifications Active and unrestricted Pharmacist license in the state of practice required. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. Sterile Products Certification preferred. Experience Minimum of 1-2 years of clinical pharmacy experience in a hospital or acute care setting preferred. Experience in compounding sterile products and medication therapy management preferred.
