Category Pharmacy-Pharmacist in Charge Job Type Direct Hire A specialty pharmacy management group is seeking an experienced Pharmacist-in-Charge (PIC) to lead the launch of a brand-new specialty pharmacy in Tyler, TX. The PIC will play a critical role in managing the pharmacy build-out, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and establishing operational workflows that optimize patient care for specialty medications. This direct hire position offers an exciting opportunity to be a leader in a start-up pharmacy environment and collaborate closely with specialty care clinics to enhance outcomes for patients.

Monday - Friday, schedule to be determined
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the designated PIC, overseeing licensure, DEA and Board of Pharmacy compliance, and regulatory inspections Lead the pharmacy's build-out and operational launch, including onboarding insurance contracts and managing accreditation processes Oversee daily operations to ensure safety, accuracy, and adherence to clinical protocols Develop, maintain, and enforce policies for prescription processing, drug storage, and security Supervise and train pharmacy staff, ensuring high-quality service and education compliance Collaborate with providers and clinics for coordinated care, formulary optimization, and medication access Manage inventory and ensure proper handling of temperature-sensitive medications and recalls Investigate and resolve medication incidents with emphasis on continuous quality improvement Participate in strategic planning to support growth and expansion of specialty pharmacy services
Qualifications:
Current, unrestricted pharmacist license in Texas, eligible to be PIC Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or equivalent advanced degree Prior PIC or Pharmacy Manager experience in an outpatient/retail specialty pharmacy setting (inpatient experience not considered) Thorough knowledge of specialty medications and pharmacy software systems (e.g., QS1, ComputerRx, PioneerRx) with preference for EMR or specialty pharmacy technology exposure Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills, including composing appeal letters for medication coverage Collaborative mindset with the ability to engage providers, patients, and staff professionally
