Job Description

Category Pharmacy - Staff Pharmacist Job Type Contract An opportunity is available for a skilled pharmacist to support long-term care patients overnight, providing essential pharmaceutical services in a dedicated healthcare environment. This contract role requires immediate availability and offers a chance to work in a focused setting ensuring patient safety and compliance through expert medication management.

Position covers the region with candidates potentially able to commute or relocate; client location specifics may be provided upon inquiry.)
Schedule:
Overnight shift, 10:00 PM - 7:00
AM Key Responsibilities:
Accurately accept and dispense prescription medications while monitoring patient medication adherence and potential overuse. Ensure all medication supplies comply with legal standards and prescribing accuracy. Maintain confidential patient records meticulously and manage pharmacy files. Provide thorough consultation to patients on medication usage, side effects, interactions, and proper handling of medical devices such as blood pressure monitors and glucose meters. Deliver additional patient support services including smoking cessation programs and routine health checks like blood pressure and cholesterol monitoring. Compound medications following strict sterile preparation procedures. Supervise pharmacy staff, including technicians and clerks, to ensure smooth daily pharmacy operations. Collaborate effectively with healthcare providers to identify and address drug-related problems.
Qualifications:
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree from an accredited institution. Licensed by the state pharmacy board (PA license required). Previous experience in long-term care pharmacy settings strongly preferred. Ability to manage confidential patient information with discretion. Strong communication and interpersonal skills for patient education and team collaboration. This contract assignment is expected to last approximately four weeks with an immediate start. Candidates ready to mobilize quickly will be prioritized due to the fast-moving nature of client engagements.
