  • Staff Pharmacist Job Type Contract A hospital inpatient pharmacist opportunity is available on a 13-week contract at a medical center in Portsmouth, VA, starting Tuesday, May 26th. The role offers evening or overnight shifts, allowing you to select the preference that best fits your schedule: Evening shift: 3:00 PM
  • 11:30 PM Overnight shift: 8:30 PM
  • 7:30 AM Monday
  • Thursday and 7:30 PM
  • 7:30 AM Friday
  • Sunday (7 nights on/7 nights off) This position requires a Virginia pharmacist license at the time of application submission and a minimum of one year of inpatient pharmacy experience.
Travel experience is preferred. Candidates must be proficient with EPIC electronic medical records, as EMR charting skills in EPIC are mandatory.
Key qualifications and experience include:
Intravenous (IV) medication compounding and administration Pain-controlled analgesia management Antibiotic stewardship and drug interaction knowledge Order entry and medication order verification Preferred skills include chemotherapy handling, anticoagulant management, pharmacokinetic dosing, and renal dosing expertise. Responsibilities involve ensuring accurate and safe medication dispensing, verifying orders, collaborating with healthcare teams, and maintaining compliance with hospital protocols. This contract demands critical expertise in inpatient pharmacy and offers the chance to work in either evening or overnight shifts within a supportive hospital setting.
