- Staff Pharmacist Job Type Contract An exciting opportunity is available for a skilled inpatient pharmacist to support patient care in a dynamic hospital setting.
This 13-week contract position begins shortly after Labor Day and offers the chance to work rotating shifts, providing critical pharmacy services in a fast-paced environment.
Location:
Portsmouth, VA Schedule/Hours:
Day shifts: 6:30 AM
- 3:00 PM, 7:30 AM
- 4:00 PM, 9:00 AM
- 5:30 PM, 10:00 AM
- 6:30 PM Evening shifts: 1:00 PM
- 9:30 PM, 2:30 PM
- 11:00 PM Overnight shifts: 7:30 PM
- 7:30 AM, 8:30 PM
- 7:30 AM Rotating shift schedule
Responsibilities:
Verify and enter medication orders in
EPIC EMR
with precision and accuracy Manage inpatient pharmacy operations including IV preparations, pain control analgesia, and antibiotic management Monitor drug interactions, dosage adjustments including renal and pharmacokinetic dosing Support anticoagulant and chemotherapy medication protocols when applicable Collaborate with the healthcare team to optimize medication therapy for hospitalized patients
Qualifications and Experience:
VA pharmacist license required at the time of application (firm requirement) Minimum of 1 year inpatient pharmacy experience is mandatory Proficient in
EPIC EMR
charting and pharmacy systems Strong knowledge of IV medications, pain management, antibiotics, and drug interactions Experience with chemotherapy and anticoagulants preferred Travel experience is an advantage This contract offers the chance to make a significant impact on patient outcomes in an inpatient hospital pharmacy role.
