Category Pharmacy - Staff Pharmacist Job Type Contract An immediate opportunity is available for a Staff Pharmacist specializing in Long Term Care, operating overnight from 10 PM to 7 AM. This contract position requires swift action due to a high volume of vendor contracts and a slower update process. Key Responsibilities:
Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately, ensuring compliance with legal requirements. Monitor patient medication adherence and identify over-usage patterns to optimize care. Maintain strict confidentiality in patient records, managing pharmacy files appropriately. Provide comprehensive patient counseling on medication usage, potential side effects, and answer related questions. Offer consultations on prescription and non-prescription drugs, including storage, dosage, and interactions. Deliver patient services such as smoking cessation support, blood pressure monitoring, and cholesterol management. Educate patients on handling medical devices including blood pressure monitors and glucose meters. Compound medications for internal and external use and prepare sterile solutions following proper protocols. Supervise pharmacy technicians and clerks to ensure smooth pharmacy operations. Manage inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies efficiently. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and healthcare practitioners to address drug-related problems and optimize patient outcomes.
Qualifications:
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required. Active pharmacist license in Pennsylvania. Proven experience in long-term care pharmacy settings is preferred.
