Job Description

Category Pharmacy - Staff Pharmacist Job Type Contract A pharmacy role is available for a licensed pharmacist with expertise in long-term care and medication management. This contract opportunity offers overnight shifts requiring attention to detail and strong clinical knowledge in a challenging and rewarding setting.
Location:
Salem, VA (local candidates preferred) Overnight shifts: 10 PM - 7 AM Contract duration: 4+ weeks Start date:
ASAP Key Responsibilities:
Accept and dispense prescription medications accurately and safely Monitor patient medication use to ensure compliance and avoid overuse Verify that prescribed medications are appropriate and comply with legal requirements Maintain detailed and confidential patient records Provide expert advice to patients on medication usage, side effects, drug interactions, and health management Educate patients on proper handling of medical devices such as blood pressure monitors and glucose meters Offer additional patient services including smoking cessation support, blood pressure measurement, and cholesterol management Compound medications and prepare sterile solutions according to proper procedures Supervise pharmacy staff including technicians and clerks Collaborate effectively with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care Maintain inventory of pharmaceutical and medical supplies
Qualifications:
Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree required Active Pennsylvania pharmacist license Experience in long-term care pharmacy and patient counseling Strong communication and team supervision skills Ability to adhere to legal and regulatory standards This contract assignment is ideal for pharmacists ready to start immediately and work overnight shifts for a minimum of four weeks. Candidates should have updated resumes and a current PA license ready for submission.
