Job Description

Category Pharmacy - Staff Pharmacist Job Type Contract An immediate opening is available for an experienced inpatient pharmacist to support critical hospital pharmacy operations. This contract position requires expertise in inpatient pharmacy services, with a focus on delivering safe, effective medication management in a fast-paced hospital environment. The assignment begins Tuesday, May 26, and runs for 13 weeks on a rotating shift schedule.

Schedule:
Rotating shifts covering days, evenings, and overnight Day shifts: 06:30-15:00, 07:30-16:00, 09:00-17:30, 10:00-18:30 Evening shifts: 13:00-21:30, 14:30-23:00 Overnight shifts: 19:30-07:30, 20:30-07:30
Responsibilities:
Manage and verify medication orders for hospitalized patients, ensuring accuracy and compliance Administer IV medications, including pain control analgesia and antibiotics Monitor drug interactions and adjust orders accordingly Participate in order entry and oversight of medication administration Support chemotherapy, anticoagulant management, pharmacokinetic, and renal dosing when applicable Utilize EPIC electronic medical record system for charting and order processing
Qualifications:
Valid Virginia Pharmacist license required at time of application (no exceptions) Minimum of 1 year inpatient pharmacy experience; travel pharmacy experience highly preferred Proficiency with
EPIC EMR
system is mandatory Strong background in IV medication administration, pain management, antibiotics, and drug interaction assessment Preferred experience includes chemotherapy, anticoagulants, pharmacokinetic dosing, and renal dosing
