Bellingham, WA Job Details Per diem $63 - $70 an hour 18 hours ago Qualifications Registered Pharmacist (RPh) Customer communication Patient service Licensed Pharmacist (State-Specific) Licensed Pharmacist Full Job Description Position Summary Oversees compounding and dispensing of prescribed IV medications and other pharmaceuticals for home infusion therapy. Assists Clinical Pharmacist team, including monitoring outcomes of infusion therapy, documentation, and other duties as directed. Essential Job Functions Oversees sterile compounding of IV admixtures under aseptic conditions Performs final verification of compounded medications, ensuring accuracy based on ingredients used and visual inspection of the final product, and ensuring proper packaging and labeling Performs final verification of non-compounded ancillary medications Performs final verification of infusion pump programming Supervises pharmacy staff involved in sterile compounding and dispensing functions Assists Clinical Pharmacists with patient care activities, including reviewing labs, making recommendations for appropriate interventions when indicated, documenting hospitalizations, creating discharge summary notes, verifying duration of therapy, entering new prescriptions, and requesting ongoing orders for chronic therapies Answers questions and provides information to physicians, clients, and other healthcare professionals on appropriate use of medication, drug interactions, side effects, dosage, storage etc. Provides pharmaceutical care to all ages of clients from newborns to the elderly and understands dosing variations and where to find appropriate information Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice to meet organizational needs. Supervisory Responsibilities The pharmacist leads the pharmacy team, managing daily operations, workflow, and regulatory compliance. They mentor and train staff and students while fostering a collaborative and professional work environment. Through clinical oversight, staff development, and quality assurance, the pharmacist ensures safe, effective, and high-quality patient care. Required Education, Licensure, and Experience All requirements below are job-related and consistent with business necessity. Doctor of Pharmacy or Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent Graduate from accredited School of Pharmacy and licensed in the State of WA by the State Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacist Minimum one year of pharmacist experience Excellent communication and customer service skills Creative, entrepreneurial, growth mindset Preferred Education & Experience Preferred qualifications are not required but are job-related and consistent with business necessity. Experience providing pharmaceutical care in a home infusion, or outpatient infusion, or other sterile compounding setting. Knowledge of infusion therapies, IV admixtures, parenteral nutrition, antibiotics, chemotherapy, and pain management. Familiarity with sterile compounding procedures, including IV Laminar Flow Hood operation and USP / standards. Ability to educate and mentor nursing staff, patients, and caregivers on infusion therapies and medication administration. Working knowledge of automated pharmacy systems and electronic health records used in home infusion. Experience managing or supervising pharmacy staff in a home infusion or clinical setting. Core Competencies Maintains established procedures concerning quality control, security of controlled substances and disposal of hazardous waste. Instructs students, ancillary staff, and other clinical staff on matters pertaining to Infusion Therapy Services. Provides pharmaceutical care to all ages of clients from newborns to the elderly. Must understand that there are dosage variations between newborns, pediatrics, adolescents, adult and geriatric clients and know where to find appropriate information. Participates in organizational performance improvement activities. Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team in a positive and respectful manner. Supervises at least one to two (1-2) members of the Infusion Solutions staff daily. Assists the Pharmacy Manager with additional assignments, which may include but will not be limited to: interviewing and assisting in the hiring process, training staff, planning, assigning and directing work, addressing complaints, resolving problems, and improving work processes. The pharmacist role requires standing, walking, and sitting throughout the workday, with frequent use of hands for handling, typing, and fine motor tasks. The position also involves repetitive hand and foot movements necessary for daily pharmacy tasks. Work Environment The pharmacist works primarily in a controlled indoor environment with occasional exposure to fumes, airborne particles, or toxic/caustic chemicals. Noise levels are generally quiet to moderate, and the role requires the ability to hear alarms, client calls, and staff instructions.
