Job Description

Category Pharmacy - Pharmacist Job Type Contract A managed care pharmacist position is available offering a remote schedule Monday through Friday, with rare weekends required only a few times per year. This contract role demands active licensure as a Pharmacist in OR, WA, or CA and a minimum of three years' experience in a managed care environment involving prior authorizations, audits, appeals, and ALJ court hearings. The Clinical Pharmacist Specialist (CPS) will deliver clinical pharmacy services aimed at supporting high-quality, evidence-based, and cost-effective care coordination. Key collaboration occurs with medical directors, nurse case managers, network physicians, and other providers to benefit health plan members.
Core responsibilities include:
Conducting medication therapy management (MTM) for individual patient care Leading population-based disease management initiatives Coordinating specialty pharmaceutical acquisition and care Performing drug utilization review and developing related programs Contributing to clinical policy development, including active participation in Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee Reviewing pharmacy and medical claims and providing education to members and caregivers Developing medication-related problem lists and implementing medication action plans with provider interventions Educating physicians, pharmacists, nurses, and other healthcare team members internally and externally Candidates must excel in clear, tactful communication of therapeutic recommendations to physicians and demonstrate personal accountability for ongoing professional development. The role requires effective time management in a fast-paced, evolving healthcare environment, relentlessly focused on enhancing care quality, optimizing outcomes, and managing costs.
