Job Description

Staff Pharmacist - Retail Pharmacy Overview City Drug Pharmacy is seeking a motivated, patient-focused Staff Pharmacist to join our retail pharmacy team. As a locally owned and veteran-owned independent pharmacy, we are committed to providing personalized care, exceptional customer service, and innovative healthcare solutions to our community. The Staff Pharmacist will be responsible for accurately dispensing medications, counseling patients, administering immunizations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the overall operation of the pharmacy. This position offers an opportunity to build lasting relationships with patients while practicing pharmacy in a community-focused environment. Essential Responsibilities Accurately review, verify, and dispense prescription medications in accordance with state and federal regulations. Provide professional counseling to patients regarding medication therapy, proper usage, side effects, interactions, and adherence. Administer immunizations and other pharmacist-provided clinical services as permitted by state law. Conduct medication therapy management (MTM) and identify opportunities to improve patient outcomes. Collaborate with prescribers and healthcare professionals to resolve prescription issues and optimize medication therapy. Ensure compliance with all pharmacy laws, regulations, HIPAA requirements, and company policies. Supervise, train, and support pharmacy technicians and support staff. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation utilizing pharmacy management systems. Assist with inventory management, including ordering, receiving, and maintaining appropriate medication stock levels. Monitor controlled substance inventory and ensure compliance with DEA and state requirements. Support medication synchronization, adherence packaging, delivery services, and other patient care initiatives. Participate in quality assurance programs and workflow improvements. Deliver outstanding customer service and foster positive patient relationships. Qualifications Active Pharmacist license in good standing. Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree preferred. Ability to obtain and maintain immunization certification. Strong understanding of retail pharmacy operations and workflow. Knowledge of state and federal pharmacy regulations. Excellent communication, customer service, and problem-solving skills. Ability to multitask and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Proficiency with pharmacy management software and technology systems. Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient safety. Independent pharmacy experience preferred but not required. Preferred Qualifications Experience with medication therapy management (MTM). Experience with immunization programs. Familiarity with adherence packaging and medication synchronization programs.
