Job Description

Position Summary To proficiently perform and document routine professional duties in the preparation and dispensing of medication. Provide patient counseling. The Pharmacist will have duties assigned in the Retail Pharmacy and other special projects as assigned. •This role is contract (temporary), and it is anticipated to end October 31, 2026•Essential Duties and Responsibilities To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other duties may be assigned. Responsible for interpretation, computer entry, and dispensing of prescriptions. Counsel and advise patients on their medications and regimens. Maintain inventory and order drugs. Compound specialized creams, ointments, solutions, suppositories, and troches. Assist in the orientation of new pharmacy staff. Maintenance of stock and controlled drug records and inventories. Input data into the customer profile system. Demonstrate knowledge of basic pharmacokinetic principles. Analyze prescription trends and adjust purchases accordingly to maximize inventory turnover. Resolve patient problems and clarify third-party coverage issues. Retrieve and apply drug information to general patient care. Perform medication therapy management, to include targeted interventions and complete medication reviews. Apply problem identification and resolution skills and solid therapeutic knowledge to pathophysiology, drug information, drug interactions, drug utilization review, and other areas for the defined patient population. Demonstrate understanding and comply with regulations, policies, and procedures established by local and federal governments and the institution. Demonstrate effectiveness in day-to-day functional supervision. Work harmoniously with co-workers. Demonstrate the ability to handle ambiguity with professionalism while keeping patient care and compliance as priorities. Vaccinate patients per collaborative practice agreement, standing order, or protocol. Other related duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager. Minimum Qualifications Education A Bachelor of Science or Doctoral degree in Pharmacy Licensure Current and valid license as a Registered Pharmacist in the District of Columbia. Experience A minimum of 1 year of licensed professional pharmacy experience. Physical Requirements Constantly sit and reach outward in a clinical setting. Must be able to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull over 20 lbs. as part of the role. Regularly exposed to healthcare settings that may require personal protective equipment. Requires manual dexterity to operate a computer keyboard, calculator, copier machine, and other equipment. About
