Category Pharmacy - Pharmacist Job Type Contract An immediate interim leadership opportunity is available for a pharmacist to step into a Director of Pharmacy/Pharmacist in Charge role supporting an inpatient behavioral health setting in the Des Moines market. This assignment offers a steady weekday schedule and the opportunity to oversee pharmacy operations while helping maintain continuity of care until a permanent pharmacy leader is hired. This role is ideal for pharmacists who enjoy operational oversight, interdisciplinary collaboration, and the chance to make a direct impact within a patient-focused environment. Pharmacists without prior hospital experience are welcome to apply, as the facility is open to training motivated candidates with strong leadership potential. Responsibilities Oversee daily pharmacy operations within an inpatient behavioral health setting Ensure safe medication distribution and compliance with pharmacy regulations Supervise pharmacy workflow and support operational efficiency Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and facility leadership regarding medication management Support medication storage, inventory control, and narcotic accountability procedures Assist with medication repackaging using Medi-dose, Milt, or HCL systems as needed Utilize and maintain Omnicell medication distribution systems Work Hours Monday through Friday 6-hour shifts per day Experience Previous pharmacy leadership, inpatient, or operational experience preferred Omnicell experience preferred Experience with medication repackaging systems such as Medi-dose, Milt, or HCL is desirable Open to training pharmacists without prior hospital experience Education Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) or Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy Other Qualifications Active Iowa Pharmacist License or willingness to obtain a Temporary Iowa Pharmacist License Strong communication and organizational skills Ability to work independently and manage pharmacy operations effectively Availability to start ASAP and remain through the duration of the interim assignment to be considered for this Iowa pharmacy leadership opportunity or send your resume directly to learn more about additional pharmacy openings currently available.
