Job Description

Hammond Clinic 7905 Calumet Ave Munster, Indiana 46321 The Staff Pharmacist Retail is responsible for all aspects of the retail pharmacy operations in the absence of the Pharmacy Operations Manager. This position ensures the most rigorous safety standards when dispensing any medication to patients in accordance to applicable state and federal laws. The Staff Pharmacist Retail is responsible for all personnel performing their daily job duties while adhering to the Franciscan Alliance Values. This position requires excellent communication skills, the ability to improve business processes, and the knowledge to implement initiatives set for forth by the Operations Manager. Outpatient Pharmacy is open Monday
  • Friday 7AM
  • 6PM.
Alternating shifts during these times.

WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT
Building Effective Relationships Develops and maintains working relationships with pharmacy and hospital personnel. Establishes and maintains effective communications and collaboration to ensure continuous performance improvement. Compliance Ensures all daily pharmacy operations, including but not limited to medication ordering and distribution, pharmacy and medical record storage procedures, overall security and safety, staff training, and safeguarding of protected health information, are in compliance with all state and federal laws, in accordance with accepted and expected ethical and professional standards, while ensuring the Franciscan Values are adhered to. Financial Management In coordination with the Pharmacy Operations Manager, contributes to and implements a strategic fiscal plan, analyzes financial data and reports, and manages labor and drug expense to ensure profitability. Records Management
  • Pharmacy Maintains records such as pharmacy files, patient profiles, charge system files, inventories, control records, or registries of poisons, narcotics, or controlled drugs; ensures records are maintained accurately in associated databases and in compliance with regulations, policies or procedures.
Controlled Substance Process Control Manages the disposition of controlled substances and other dangerous drugs in accordance with all state laws and regulatory requirements. Develops and manages systems of inventory record keeping and control to detect any shortages or discrepancies in controlled substances at the earliest possible time. Monitoring Drug Therapy Monitors drug therapy regimens for contraindications, drug-drug interactions, drug-food interactions, allergies, appropriateness of drug and dose. Continuous Quality Improvement Participates in and monitors quality initiatives to drive continuous quality improvement of pharmacy operations. Clinical Initiatives Participates in the ongoing maintenance and delivery of the Bedside Delivery Program (RxBEDS-Prescription Bedside Education Delivery Service) as well as all other current and future clinical initiatives. Medication Order Review Reviews prescriptions and medication orders, checks for appropriateness and provides information needed to properly and safely administer the medication. Recognizes orders that are inappropriate and takes responsibility to assure that the order is modified promptly and correctly. Documents interventions.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required Bachelor's Degree Pharmacy Preferred Bachelor's Degree Business, Economics, Statistics or related Preferred Doctorate Pharmacy 1 year Specialty Pharmacy, Inpatient Pharmacy, or Retail Pharmacy Preferred 3 years Pharmacy Preferred Basic Life Support Program (BLS)
  • American Heart Association Registered Pharmacist (RPh)
  • State Licensing Board in respective state Registered Pharmacist (RPh)
  • State Licensing Board Certified Immunizing Pharmacist
  • American Pharmacists Association Certificate Medication Management Certification (MTM)
  • The National Board of Medication Therapy Management Certified Compounding Pharmacist
  • . in state of practice Certificate Board Certified Ambulatory Care Pharmacist (BCACP)
