Job Description

JOB SUMMARY
The Retail Pharmacist (PRN) provides patient support, education and counseling, and medication management. All Juniper Health employees will adhere to the Patient Center Medical Home (PCMH) model and work to ensure that patients of all ages receive comprehensive, coordinated and patient-centered "whole patient" care. The employee will maintain confidentiality at all times.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide quality care to patients by accurately dispensing prescription orders. Counsel patients regarding medication dosing, administration, side effects, interactions, management of side effects, and proper storage. Address medication-related questions and concerns that patients and/or providers have. Clarify prescriptions with prescriber(s) and suggest alternatives where appropriate. Assess for potential drug interactions, which will be shared with the prescriber(s). Identify potential adherence barriers, then help patients to resolve them while providing ongoing assessments and barrier management. Maintaining pharmacy inventory and records pertaining to inventory, including controlled substances. Ensure compliance with HIPAA, pharmacy policies and procedures, as well as state and federal law. Help patients to overcome financial barriers by pursuing available services (potentially national and state-level prescription drug programs for which they may be eligible) to assist patients with accessing medications. Possess extensive knowledge about various immunizations, make appropriate immunization(s) recommendations to patients, and administer immunizations. Overseeing pharmacy technician(s) and pharmacy interns, if applicable. Participate in professional development, if warranted. Maintain pharmacist license and appropriate Continuing Education (CE) hours. Other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Education:
Bachelor of Pharmacy or Doctorate of Pharmacy from an accredited college of pharmacy
Experience:
Three or more years of experience preferred, familiarity with 340b program
Other:
Kentucky licensure in good standing, certified to administer vaccines
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is typically performed in a pharmacy environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands required of the position are representative of those required of comparable professional positions and must be met by the employee to successfully perform the essential functions of the job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to communicate, operate equipment, observe details at a close range, be in stationary or moving positions, and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds. TRAVEL:
Travel to JHI sites and/or external meetings and trainings may be required.
OTHER:
The employee is expected to work and be available during regular business hours, however, extended hours and weekend work may be required. .
