Job Description

Category Pharmacy-Director of Pharmacy Job Type Contract Step into a leadership role overseeing pharmacy operations at a newly launching behavioral health facility. This interim position requires a seasoned pharmacy professional to guide the pharmacy setup and manage medication services as the site prepares to go live. The ideal candidate will have expertise in inpatient behavioral health pharmacy, familiarity with Pyxis automation, and the necessary licensure to practice in Missouri.
Key Responsibilities:
Oversee pharmacy setup and procurement of medications, ensuring safe and accurate stocking of Pyxis units Verify medication orders promptly once patients are admitted Maintain seamless communication with C-suite executives and regional Directors of Pharmacy Provide on-call support during weekends and assist with additional coverage needs during initial startup Work independently without on-site pharmacy staff or tech support Participate in remote training sessions provided by the regional
Director of Pharmacy Qualifications and Experience:
Licensed Pharmacist in Missouri with active Medication Therapy Services certification Proven experience in inpatient behavioral health pharmacy operations Proficiency with Pyxis automated dispensing systems and familiarity with HCS order entry system (training provided) Ability to work autonomously in a new site environment during startup phase Strong communication skills for interaction with executive leadership and pharmacy team
Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM with weekday coverage plus on-call responsibilities for weekends
Location:
Behavioral health facility located near St. Louis Lambert International Airport; local candidates preferred for ease of access
Dress Code:
Business casual or scrubs (no specific color requirement) This contract role starts July 6th and is expected to continue for approximately eight weeks until a permanent hire is in place.
