Job Description

Category Pharmacy-Director of Pharmacy Job Type Contract Oversee and lead inpatient pharmacy services in a key leadership role that demands both clinical expertise and operational management. This contract position, based in West Plains, MO, requires a licensed Missouri pharmacist with Medication Therapy Services certification to serve as Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) and Director of Inpatient Pharmacy Services.

West Plains, Missouri Contract Duration:
Approximately July 9 - October 1, with 2 weeks of onsite training before coverage begins
Schedule:
Monday to Friday 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM No on-call responsibilities, but will act as an expert resource for pharmacy staff
Core Responsibilities:
Lead and manage the inpatient pharmacy team, including 4.5 pharmacist FTEs and 6 technician FTEs Serve as Pharmacist in Charge, ensuring compliance and quality standards are met Create and maintain staff schedules for pharmacists and technicians Chair and organize Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee meetings, develop agendas, and implement approved initiatives Collaborate with the Buyer to address medication supply and shortages Participate in hospital medical staff and quality committees, including COPD readmissions reduction efforts Conduct monthly department meetings and daily weekday huddles Oversee ordering of controlled substances and manage Pyxis system access and payroll Potential to perform sterile compounding during staff absences
Desired Experience & Qualifications:
Licensed Missouri pharmacist with Medication Therapy Services certification Proven inpatient pharmacy experience, with leadership at a director level preferred Familiarity with Meditech Expanse order entry system and drug dictionary management Comfort working in diverse specialty areas such as OB (non-NICU), orthopedics, pediatrics (non-PICU), oncology, cardiology, pulmonology, neurology, behavioral health, and more Ability to maintain composure and serve as a resource to pharmacy staff for clinical and operational questions
Work Environment:
