Monday - Friday | 08:00 AM - 4:30 PM Position Overview Rx relief is seeking a strategic, clinical leader to step into a critical Interim Director of Inpatient Pharmacy Services role in West Plains, MO. In this dual-capacity role, you will also serve as the Pharmacist in Charge (PIC) , steering daily operations, mentoring a dedicated team, and ensuring the highest standards of patient care. This is a premium-rate contract ideal for an experienced clinical leader looking for a rewarding, predictable daytime schedule. While there is no formal office on-call rotation , you will serve as the premier clinical and operational resource to support your staff when complex questions arise. Key Responsibilities As the interim leader, you will oversee a vibrant inpatient pharmacy supporting diverse specialty areas including Orthopedics, Cardiology, Oncology, Neurology, General Surgery, Adult Behavioral Health, and low-risk OB/Pediatrics.
Your day-to-day leadership will include:
Administrative Oversight:
Manage department payroll, design and optimize shift schedules for both pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, and oversee Pyxis user access and security.
Committee Leadership:
Spearhead the Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee by building agendas, steering monthly meetings, and driving approved clinical initiatives.
Interdisciplinary Collaboration:
Attend monthly medical staff committee sessions and actively participate in specialized COPD readmissions reduction initiatives.
Operational Control:
Conduct daily weekday huddles and monthly department-wide meetings to keep the team aligned. Manage the pharmacy's controlled substance inventory with twice-weekly ordering, and partner closely with the Buyer to proactively mitigate supply chain constraints.
Clinical & Continuity Support:
Step into the cleanroom to assist with sterile compounding only if critical staff call-ins require emergency coverage. Qualifications & Requirements To thrive in this leadership role, you must bring a strong background in acute care pharmacy management and a meticulous eye for operational workflows.
Licensure:
Active, unrestricted Missouri Pharmacist License in good standing.
Certification:
Valid Medication Therapy Services (MTS) certification is required.
Experience:
Proven, recent experience in an inpatient hospital pharmacy setting (prior Director, Assistant Director, or supervisor experience is highly preferred).
Technical Savvy:
Experience with Meditech Expanse is highly preferred, as this role is directly responsible for managing and updating the facility's drug dictionary. Are you ready to lead?
