Job Description
Job Summary The Director of 340B Pharmacy is responsible for the strategic leadership, compliance oversight, and operational management of the organization's 340B Drug Pricing Program. This role ensures adherence to all federal regulations, maximizes program savings, and supports access to affordable medications for eligible patients. The Director collaborates with pharmacy leadership, compliance teams, and external partners to optimize program performance and mitigate risk. Key Responsibilities Program Leadership & Strategy Develop and execute strategies to optimize the 340B program in alignment with organizational goals Identify opportunities for program expansion, cost savings, and efficiency improvements Provide leadership and direction for 340B program staff and cross-functional teams Compliance & Regulatory Oversight Ensure full compliance with Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) regulations and guidelines Maintain policies and procedures related to 340B program integrity Oversee internal and external audits, including HRSA audits Monitor legislative and regulatory changes impacting the 340B program Operations Management Oversee daily operations of the 340B program, including split-billing software and contract pharmacy arrangements Ensure accurate accumulation, dispensing, and inventory management Collaborate with pharmacy operations to ensure program integration and efficiency Financial Performance Monitor and analyze 340B program financial performance Develop budgets, forecasts, and savings reports Ensure appropriate use of program savings to support patient care initiatives Contract Pharmacy & Vendor Management Manage relationships with contract pharmacies, wholesalers, and third-party administrators Evaluate vendor performance and negotiate contracts as needed Ensure compliance across all contract pharmacy arrangements Education & Training Provide ongoing education to internal stakeholders regarding 340B requirements and best practices Develop training programs for pharmacy and clinical staff Risk Management & Auditing Conduct routine internal audits and risk assessments Implement corrective action plans when necessary Maintain audit-ready documentation at all times Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree minimum Pharmacy Degree preferred Advanced degree (MBA, MHA, or similar) preferred Advanced 340B Operations Certificate preferred Experience 5-10 years of pharmacy experience, with at least 3-5 years in 340B program management Experience with hospital or health system pharmacy operations preferred Demonstrated experience with HRSA audits and compliance Licensure/Certifications Active pharmacist license in good standing (state-specific), if applicable. 340B Apexus Certified Expert (ACE) certification preferred Skills & Competencies Deep knowledge of 340B regulations and compliance requirements Strong leadership and team management skills Financial acumen and data analysis capability Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills High attention to detail and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex regulatory environment
