Job Description

Job Summary:
The Director of Pharmacy Operations provides strategic, operational, and clinical leadership for acute-care pharmacy services to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective medication-use processes. The role leads daily operations and long-range planning for medication distribution, sterile/non-sterile compounding, controlled substances, automation/technology, inventory, and revenue integrity. In partnership with the Senior Director/Chief Pharmacist and interdisciplinary leaders, the Director drives standardization, performance improvement, and regulatory readiness, aligning pharmacy operations with service-line strategy, organizational goals, and growth plans while sustaining a high-reliability culture of safety.
Qualifications:
Current North Carolina pharmacist licensure required, plus a master's degree or PharmD from an ACPE-accredited college of pharmacy and completion of a pharmacy residency; or an equivalent combination of post-pharmacy experience and progressively responsible management experience. Requires at least five years of progressively responsible health-system pharmacy supervisory experience and thorough knowledge of health-system pharmacy practice, including clinical, operational, and technological applications. Strong written and verbal communication skills and computer literacy required. Must be able to lead, manage, and motivate people and interact tactfully with patients and families, physicians, and organizational leaders.
