Job Description

Category Pharmacy-Director of Pharmacy Job Type Contract An exciting opportunity is available for a Director of Pharmacy with PIC responsibilities at a behavioral health facility in Summit, NJ. This contract role spans 6-8 weeks and involves overseeing pharmacy operations, ensuring compliance, and supporting staff in a dynamic clinical environment.
Location:
Summit, NJ (Close to Newark Airport)
Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM (on-call after shifts) Weekend on-call coverage only
Key Responsibilities:
Serve as the Pharmacy Director and Pharmacist-in-Charge with a minimum commitment of 35 hours per week Oversee order verification and assist with daily pharmacy operations Participate in interdisciplinary meetings and contribute to policy development Support staff by providing on-site training and helping to relieve workload pressures Facilitate data collection for Pharmacy & Therapeutics (P&T) committee purposes Ensure compliance with regulatory standards; recent Joint Commission and state reviews emphasize the importance of maintaining strong oversight
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
Licensed Pharmacist in New Jersey (license required) Proven experience as a Director of Pharmacy with Pharmacist-in-Charge responsibilities Familiarity with HCS order entry system (experience required) Experience with Omnicell automation systems is highly beneficial Background in behavioral health pharmacy preferred Knowledge of policy development and healthcare compliance standards
Facility and Support:
Supportive team environment with 1 full-time pharmacy technician and multiple per-diem and part-time pharmacy staff Tech support available for Omnicell and order filling Professional dress code: neat, clean, and comfortable closed-toe shoes required This contract offers an excellent chance to lead pharmacy operations in a focused behavioral health setting, contribute to quality care, and work alongside competent, dedicated professionals. On-site training will be provided to ensure a smooth transition into the role.
