Work Shifts 9:00 A.M - 5:00 P.M Duties & Responsibilities The Pharmacy District Manager, under the direction of the Senior Assistant Vice President Pharmacy Operations, will assist in formulating, planning, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the Pharmacy services and programs in a hospital or hospital center, promoting effective functioning and operations of outpatient and satellite pharmacies in coordination with other professional and administrative disciplines. The Pharmacy District Manager will support the Directors of Pharmacy in creating an environment that promotes growth, and leading pharmacy staff to perform within regulatory guidelines, company policies and procedures.
SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Participates in development and implementation of pharmaceutical service programs consistent with the medication needs of the patients, including control and accountability of drug products, requisitioning and dispensing of pharmaceutical supplies to nursing care units and to other departments/services of the hospital. Participates with hospital medical staff in formulation, development and recommendation of policies regarding the evaluation, selection, procurement, storage, distribution, use and all other matters relating to drugs in the hospital, with consideration being given to the following: Formulary Evaluations or clinical data on new drugs or preparations for use in hospitals Investigational drug protocols Drugs to be stocked and other related services. Assists in developing, recommending and implementing pharmaceutical service programs consistent with the medication needs of the patients, including control and accountability of drug products throughout the health care setting. Collaborates in the development, makes recommendations and implements programs of records management whereby records are correlated with other health care setting records, in accordance with the health care setting's procedures and practices such as: a. Transactions of the Pharmacy b. Record systems and bookkeeping in accordance with accounting department standards c. Controls over requisitioning and dispensing of drugs and pharmaceutical supplies Assists in formulating, developing, implementing and directing clinical pharmacy activities involving the review and interpretation of all drug orders, maintenance of patient medication profiles and participation in direct patient care, and develops patient care evaluation programs relating to drug utilization an effectiveness. Assists in the development and preparation of financial goals and pharmacy budget based on systemwide initiatives and competitive business trends. Directs pharmaceutical personnel with respect to compounding and dispensing of drugs in accordance with prescribed policies and standards and legal requirements, requisitioning and procurement of drugs and pharmaceutical supplies, inventory control and maintenance, storage of supplies and their issuance and maintenance of such controls and standards, orderliness and cleanliness of Pharmacy area, and inspection programs. Focuses on key performance indicators (KPI) and quality measures to evaluate and improve pharmacy workflow. Partners with Central Office to support the implementation of pharmacy standardization initiatives including but not limited to: Inventory Management Systems and automation technology

rooms System and local Formulary alignment Communicates and manages relationships across the system to promote staff engagement and offer support. Helps selects Pharmacy personnel, guides them in their performance, trains and reviews their performance, makes recommendations regarding the efficiency of department personnel (their performances, potential and development), and follows through in accordance with Corporation's policies and programs in personnel and labor relations on such matters as compensation, classification, training programs, discipline, employee morale, grievance resolution, etc. Assists staff in staying up to date with new programs and initiatives rolled out across the system. Works with Director of Pharmacy to maintain all pharmacy accreditations and ensure compliance. Helps develops information and in-service training programs for nursing and medical staff with respect to drug therapy and side effects. Participates in developing succession plans for select pharmacy positions. Helps oversee the training, development, and evaluation of pharmacy personnel. Invests time to teach, train and coach others through a variety of interactions (e.g., group meetings, one-on-ones, etc.) on how to drive engagement and performance. Influences pharmacy management team in attracting, retaining and building a sustainable, diverse pipeline of future leaders capable of rising to the challenges of the business. Participates in the preparation and review of systemwide policies and procedures. Participates in meetings related to systemwide and/or healthcare setting programs. Participates and assists in community programs such as brown bag, vaccination pods and others as requested by Pharmacy or Health System Leadership. Maintains communication with professional and governmental organizations. Performs related duties, as required Minimum Qualifications 1. Valid license and current registration to practice as a Pharmacist issued by the New York State Education Department (NYSED); and completion of a Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.

D.) program or Master's Degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Public Health or a related discipline; and four (4) years of satisfactory, full-time experience as a Licensed Pharmacist, two (2) years of which must have been in a responsible administrative, managerial or supervisory capacity in a Pharmacy in a hospital, health or medical care setting; or 2. Valid license and current registration to practice as a Pharmacist issued by the NYSED; and seven (7) years of satisfactory, full-time experience as a Licensed practicing Pharmacist, three (3) years of which must have been in a responsible administrative, managerial or supervisory capacity in a Pharmacy in a hospital, health or medical care setting. Department Preferences Excellent communication, leadership, interpersonal and presentation skills, required. Ability to assist in formulating, developing and implementing pharmacy service programs and to direct and supervise pharmacy service personnel and staff activities. Ability to work effectively with administrative staff, medical and nursing personnel, and to assist coordinating Pharmacy programs and activities throughout the facility.
