Job Description
Category Pharmacy - Pharmacy Technician Job Type Contract An immediate opportunity is available for a skilled retail pharmacy technician to support a specialty pharmacy serving complex patient needs. This 13-week contract position offers the potential for contract-to-hire consideration. This specialty retail pharmacy provides medications for patients managing multiple chronic conditions. Each patient typically takes 8 to 15 medications daily, requiring a technician with strong knowledge of the top 200-400 medications commonly used in retail settings, along with excellent communication skills and patience when engaging with patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Accurately prepare and dispense prescriptions while following all pharmacy protocols. Assist patients with medication questions, demonstrating compassion and clear communication, especially given many patients have low literacy levels. Collaborate with pharmacists and healthcare providers to support patients managing chronic illnesses such as diabetes, hypertension, multiple sclerosis, and rheumatoid arthritis. Utilize pharmacy software (Rx30 experience preferred) to process prescriptions efficiently. Maintain patient confidentiality and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.Qualifications:
Previous retail pharmacy technician experience, ideally with specialty pharmacy exposure. Demonstrated experience working with patients suffering from chronic diseases—explicitly noted on the resume. Familiarity with patient populations covered by Medicare/Medicaid, including those with low income and literacy challenges. Valid Ohio pharmacy technician license; PTCB certification highly preferred but not mandatory. Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with patience and empathy to provide excellent patient care.Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This role requires submission of the following documents: Updated resume detailing relevant chronic disease experience. Skills checklist. One retail manager reference addressing specialty medication experience and patient interaction. Copy of Ohio license and PTCB certification if applicable.
