Job Description

Outpatient Pharmacist - Retail Gratiot, Ohio | $54.85 to $75.00 per hour (depending on experience) This is a staff Pharmacist opportunity with a not-for-profit integrated healthcare system in east central Ohio, recognized among Forbes' top 100 hospitals nationally. The organization operates outpatient retail pharmacy locations serving a six-county region, with high-volume dispensing supported by a Parata Max automated dispensing robot that handles approximately 45% of prescription volume. This position reports to the Pharmacy Manager and works as part of a team that includes multiple staff pharmacists and 8 to 18 technicians depending on location and day. Schedule Two locations are available, each with distinct scheduling structures. Location 1 is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pharmacists at this location may work three 12-hour shifts or four 10-hour shifts per week. Weekend rotation is one Saturday every four weeks and one Sunday every 12 weeks. This location fills approximately 1,000 prescriptions on Mondays, 700 to 800 on other weekdays, and 250 to 300 on weekends. Location 2 is open Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., and Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., closed Sundays. Pharmacists work either a 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. or 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. shift, with one Saturday every four weeks. This location fills 500 to 600 prescriptions on weekdays and 150 to 175 on Saturdays. Both locations are closed on Thanksgiving and Christmas. Remaining holidays are rotated so that each pharmacist works approximately one holiday per year or every other year. One full-time and one part-time position are available across the two locations; specific assignment will be confirmed during the interview process. Compensation $54.85 to $75.00 per hour, depending on years of experience. As a reference point, a candidate with approximately 10 years of experience would be placed at approximately $64.52 per hour. What You'll Do In this role, you will interpret prescriptions and dispense pharmaceuticals and related devices in compliance with federal, state, and local laws and regulations. You will provide patient counseling and medication education, verify appropriate pharmaceutical agents against prescription orders, and confirm that each patient receives the correct medication from an authorized prescriber. You will review patient profiles for therapeutic duplications, disease state interactions, drug-drug and drug-allergy interactions, dosage appropriateness, duration of therapy, and potential misuse, taking appropriate action when concerns are identified and contacting prescribers to clarify orders or address unobtainable medications. You will calculate doses, prepare compounded prescriptions, and prepare IV medications according to physician orders. Supervision of pharmacy technicians is a regular part of this role, including managing workflow, assigning workloads, and approving overtime and time-off requests as needed. You will also assist with onboarding new staff, interns, and externs, and participate in pharmaceutical ordering and inventory management to maintain appropriate stock levels and cost-effective product selection. In the absence of the managing pharmacist, you will serve as the pharmacist in charge. Additional responsibilities include cash management oversight and securing the facility at the close of business. Required Qualifications Graduate of an accredited college of pharmacy (PharmD or BS Pharmacy) Active, unrestricted Ohio Pharmacist license in good standing, or ability to obtain prior to start date Experience interpreting and verifying prescriptions in a retail or outpatient pharmacy setting Demonstrated ability to supervise and direct pharmacy technician staff Strong written and verbal communication skills Ability to maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA requirements Preferred Qualifications Immunization certification (APhA or equivalent) Experience with automated dispensing technology, including robotic dispensing systems such as Parata Max MTM (Medication Therapy Management) certification or experience Prior experience in a high-volume outpatient or retail pharmacy environment Familiarity with compounding and IV preparation Experience acting as pharmacist in charge Compensation and Benefits $54.85 to $75.00 per hour, based on experience Medical, dental, and vision insurance 401(k) or retirement plan Paid time off Full benefits package as offered by the organization To Apply Submit your application through this posting.
